EXERCISE OF THE MONTH - PIKE UPS

To get fit at home you need to do high quality exercises right? Well every month we decide upon a new favorite, first-class exercise. Give it a try and you'll soon know lots of great exercises for whipping that body into shape. :-)

This exercise is the key to building a midsection to be proud of...

 

TIP OF THE MONTH - INTENSITY BOOST

This month, you're going to see if you can tighten and tone a muscle group of your choice. You're also going to see if you can increase the amount of fat you lose. To achieve these, it only requires that you make one simple change...

 

Step up the intensity of all the exercises for the muscle group you have chosen. Don't worry about changing anything else. Just the intensity.

 

You can do this by either:

  • Using a heavier weight...
  • Doing more reps of the same exercise...
  • Choosing an exercise which is harder but works the same muscles...

 

The idea is that you want to be completely exhausted when you finish each set. Read that again because it's very important.

This high intensity type exercise will build more muscle tissue in your body and at a faster rate. Your muscles get a shock when they realise that they can't keep up with your training. This stimulates them to grow further, which is fantastic for...

 

Weight loss! That's right. Having more muscle tissue in your body will boost your resting metabolism so that you're a better fat burner at all hours of the day. This is especially true for muscles like your glutes because they are the biggest in your body. This means they burn the maximum fat possible.

 

Another thing about doing high intensity exercise is that your body produces fat burning hormones. These also help you to burn more fat over the long term.

 

The combined effect of fat loss and muscle growth is that your body begins to look firm and toned. This is great news for you if you're looking to show off on the beach this summer.
