Can I Tone My Arms And Get Rid Of My Chicken Wings
I've lost about 15 pounds in the past year and have noticed that my tricep area seems to be flabby, even though I've been lifting 60 pounds when working my triceps. Is is possible to tone this area?
Yes it is possible to tone this area.
Your triceps may be 'flabby' for a number of reasons
- Some loose skin from your prior weight loss.
- Still some fat to lose
- Not enough muscle
If it's loose skin and you're lucky, it may shrink back down to normal size over time.
If you still have some fat to lose, just keep doing what you're doing. Keep improving, adding muscle and losing fat. You'll drop that excess fat before you know it.
In the third case, not enough muscle, this is the easiest to fix. There are plenty of tricep exercises you can do at home.
When you say 60 pounds...this is very exercise dependent. 60 pounds may be difficult for one exercise and easy for another. Without knowing what exercise you're doing I can't really comment on it.
However, I can give you some suggestions for some exercises you can
Exercises like pressups, bench press, tricep dips, skull crushers, overhead shoulder press are all fantastic for building up strong triceps.
Try to do 6-10 reps per set for optimum muscle building. On your last rep it should be getting pretty difficult.
And if you're worried about exploding into the incredible hulk overnight - a common fear in women - don't worry. It doesn't happen! Especially not for us girls. In fact, a high level of muscle gain for a woman is 1lb muscle tissue per month. That's barely anything.
