Don't buy

Do not buy this item!!

Hello everyone,

I purchased the Everlast Multi Function Chinning Bar from a big box sporting goods store about 6 months ago to help with my workouts at home.

Yesterday morning while doing only my second pull up, the bar slipped from the door frame and I crashed to the floor landing on my upper back on the right side.

I'm still a little sore today from the fall, and have already complained to Everlast as this could have been a lot worse.

I have followed all the instructions and have used this product for pull ups, chin ups and also as a push bar.

When I complained to a manager at Everlast he just offered me a discount off another Everlast item. I will probably get another pull up bar (not made by Everlast) but most likely get something that screws in so that I know it's more secure.

I hope this helps and if anyone else has experienced this let everyone know.

Hi James,

That sounds painful.

What do you think it was about the bar that made it slip off? Do you think it wasn't sitting properly when you used it?

I can see from the photo you uploaded that there's not actually a very large surface area for the chin up bar to rest on your door frame. Did it feel very stable when you were using it?

Good idea for sticking with the safer screw in type. It's probably better to be safe than sorry when it comes to these bars because you could seriously hurt yourself.

So if you're going to get one, either...

1. If you choose a frame type, make sure that theres absolutely no way it can slip off the door.

or...

2. Get one which screws into your door frame.

Let us know what the new bar is like when you get it...

Cheers
Tom

P.S. Hope the bruising heals quickly ;)
