Our favorite thing about resisitance bands is that you can pop them in your bag when you go on holiday. This means you can come home looking as good as you did when you left. Resistance bands will challenge you no matter what your fitness level is. They're great for beginners all the way up to elite atheletes. |
Medicine Balls
Medicine ball exercises are amazing for strengthening and toning your mid section. When you throw, bounce, roll or catch your medicine ball you activate your core muscles. In almost all of the photographs on this website - you'll notice that Tom and Shaye will be using a Yoga Mat. Why? Because nothing else works quite like them! Yoga mats give a much needed cushioning when working out on hard surfaces. They are also made of a high-tack, non-slip material which makes you exercises safer and more effective... Sometimes a few towels on top of each other can do the job of a yoga mat... However if you're going to be doing the exercises frequently we strongly recommend you invest in the real deal. Yoga mats are very well priced - and a bargain if you think of the added comfort they'll give you. |
Ankle Weights
Ankle weights are weighted bands that you put around your ankles. When worn during exercise this provides added resistance... Resulting in more muscle built and calories burned. Probably the greatest benefit you'll get from using ankle weights is that you will be bale to shorten your workouts. You'll achieve the same level of leg strengthening in a shorter space of time. Shaye uses ankle weights when she's doing our home made ab bench exercise. This makes the exercises super effective and she can only handle 1/2 the number of sets! You'll find ankle weights a useful buy if you want shorter workouts with greater intensity. |
iPods
iPods are also an awesome way to keep your home workouts fun. Everyone loves music and turning on your favorite songs can make any workout enjoyable! Shaye swears by her iPod when it comes to exercise. She says that turning it up stops her from hearing herself panting - so she doesn't realise that she's tired! This enables her to push herself and keep improving. iPods are also useful for home fitness training because you can follow iPod workouts on them. iPod workouts enable you to listen to music and follow a workout video at the same time... anywhere. |
Body Fat Calipers
Measuring your body fat with body fat calipers is the most effective way to measure your body fat at home. It's also very cost effective. When you begin a workout program, it's often hard to tell your fat loss progress. Bathroom scales only show you the total content of whats inside you... muscle, fat, blood, food etc! Because of this they are not effective for measuring fat loss. Measuring your fat loss can be very motivating, so it's important that you do it properly. Keep a record of your progress so that when you reach your goals - you can look back and see how far you've come! |
