Warning: If You Are Doing Crunches to Get Toned Abs - You're Wasting Your Time!

I really, really, really wanted toned abs! My holiday to the tropical paradise of Samoa was coming up in 12 weeks - and I wanted to look H-O-T! But I didn't have much time...

So, I paid $150 to sign up at the best gym in my area. And, although the weekly charges were twice that of most gyms around... They offered 3 x weekly intensive abs classes... I was sold...

Surely this would get me that sexy six pack!

They weren't lying... the abs classes were intense! 40 minutes of solid crunches... crunches to the left side, right side, middle... Crunches with a swiss ball... Crunches with a medicine ball... Geez - I never knew there were so many different types of crunches!

6 weeks into the abs classes my bank account was feeling depressed... and so was I. I had not made any improvements... there was still no definition to my abs.


The Secret to Toned Abs That Doesn't Involve A Single Crunch...

With only 6 weeks left, I began researching frantically... Why was this abs program not working? Was I just doomed to having a soft cushy mid section forever?

What I discovered was that doing crunches is not only an ineffective way of getting abs... It's possibly the most ineffective way of getting abs!

I never went to another abs class again...


I did go to Samoa with toned abs!

They weren't quite as fabulous as I'd hoped... but considering I only had 6 weeks to get them... I was happy.

So... What did I learn from this experience?


You Don't Have To Be a Fitness Junkie To Have Toned Abs!

There's no need to spend hours killing yourself in the gym to have sexy toned abs! That is just wasting your time and money.

What you do need to know is:

  • The truth about how to get abs and...
  • Which abdominal flattening exercises you should be doing.

The Truth About How to Get Toned Abs...

You have abs... right now... I promise! The reason why you can't see them is because they're covered by belly fat. You can do all the toning abs exercises in the world... But as long as there is fat covering them up - you'll never see them...

This doesn't mean that you have to starve yourself or try the latest fad diet on the market... There is a much more fun and healthy way...


Resistance Exercises Are TOPS For Losing Body Fat And Speeding Up Your Metabolism...

To get my abs toned in time for my Samoan holiday... I did hard core resistance exercises... At home! I built up strong and lean fat burning muscles in my thighs, butt and core.

These new muscles increased my metabolism and enabled me to lose the fat I needed to see my abs.

Here's an example of some of the exercises I used to get toned abs:


Killer Twists

This exercise is fantastic... It builds that fat burning muscle I was talking about in your entire body! Do them and you'll feel the burn..

Make sure you knee doesn't move in front of your toes.

  1. Get yourself a weight - a medicine ball will do the job.
  2. Get into a low squat and hold the ball to one side.
  3. Stand up tall and twist your body to the other side.
  4. Return back to the start position.
  5. Repeat.
  6. Change sides.

Dumbbell Squats

This exercise zones in on the biggest muscle groups in your body - your butt and thighs. This is fantastic for fat loss because the bigger the muscle groups, the more fat they burn.

Do 10-12 repetitions of this exercise... Make sure that your weight is heavy enough that you struggle to complete the last repetition.

Make sure you knee doesn't move in front of your toes.

  1. Grab yourself a nice heavy weight... One that challenges you
  2. Stand up straight a shown in picture one.
  3. Bend your knees and lower into a deep squat, as shown in picture 2.
  4. Make sure your back stays straight.
  5. You can move the weights slightly forward to help you balance.
  6. Raise back up tot he start position.
  7. Repeat

Pike Ups to Bar

This exercise is fantastic for toning abdominal muscles and strengthening your entire core region.

It's one of the more advanced exercises I do... So, don't feel disheartened if you can't get all the way to the top at first... Just work your way towards it!

  1. Find a bar that you can easily grip onto. Or, get your significant other to make one for you!
  2. Hang from the bar as shown in picture 1.
  3. Keeping your legs straight and raise your toes up to the bar.
  4. Slowly lower them back down to the start position.
  5. Repeat...

My New 12 Week Abs Challenge!

Since this trip to Samoa, Tom and I have been travelling the world and living the good life (a little too much!) My abs have softened again and all those thai curries are beginning to show...

So, over the next 12 weeks I'm doing a truth about abs challenge to get me looking sexier than ever. It's based on all the principles of toning abs that I believe in... and I'm confident I'll look great by the end of it...
